Podium selfie after Lotte Kopecky became European Champion ITT
Checking off the checklist, it's something only the legends are able to do. And in that list of legends, there's a blank space reserved for Lotte Kopecky.
Let's begin at the beginning, more specifically the 22nd of September in 2020, when the young and introverted Lotte Kopecky succeeds for the first time in beating Jolien D'hoore, the Belgian rider of the moment.
And after that, everything goes upwards.
Starting then, the new Jolien D'hoore will gradually change into the hope of Belgian women's cycling.
It's 2022 where it's really starting to take off. From a smaller team, she gets the chance to be a part of a big team, and it's not 'just' a World Tour team; it's immediately the best team in the world. At SD Worx Protime, she finds that last percent that changes her into a top rider. In one year, she goes from top tens or podiums in WT races to winning those races. The Strade Bianche and the Ronde van Vlaanderen being the highlights of her break-through year.
The two years that followed were even crazier! From becoming World Champion on both road and track to podiuming multiple Grand Tours and even winning Paris Roubaix!
And on September 11th, 2024, another epic performance could be added to her list. After focusing on the time trial for about a year, she did the impossible, beating one of the best time trialists in the world by 44 seconds. Talk about being a superwoman.
Day after day, she surprises herself and the rest of the world by doing better than she ever performed.
Day after day, her checklist is getting fuller.
